St Patrick's Day
What March festivals do you know? In Russia we have Women’s Day and Pancake week, but have you heard of an English holiday known as St. Patrick's Day?

Our 4th graders learn about Ireland and one of the most important Irish festivals, which is celebrated in most English speaking countries. To prepare for a special English event where they have an opportunity to cooperate along with express themselves individually. Our students gain gold coins for accomplishing a number of exciting activities. They dance the jig dance, the Irish traditional dance, make personalized leprechauns, pin the hat on the leprechauns blindfolded, and even have a Jeopardy game where they demonstrate their knowledge of the topic. The cherry on the cake is the auction, where they can spend the earned coins to buy prizes. There, our students demonstrate cooperative skills by joining the earned coins to get the prize. On top of that, each child gets the home-made cookie in the shape of a shamrock leaf to eat it at snack time and the wish of good luck.
